California probate forms

California probate forms are published by the courts. Counties sometimes layer their own local forms on top of the statewide ones, so always confirm with the court where probate is filed.

Where to find them

California's Judicial Council publishes the statewide probate forms (the DE-series). Most counties accept the statewide forms, sometimes with a county-specific cover sheet.

Counties with e-filing maintain their own portals; the form set is the same but the submission process differs.

Forms most executors will see

Notice of Petition to Administer Estate.
